Developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty  Alleviation Programme,’ Tamang Heritage Trail’ lies in one of the bodering regions between Nepal and Tibet. These trails are less crowded and put a stronger emphasis on culture than some of the more classic trail. In earlier days, the citizenship of Nepal would not be offered to real Tibetans, so they changed their ethnicity to Tamang, which is what they still write till date. The culture and traditions of these people are similar to Tibet just across the border. During Tamang Heritage Trail trek along unbeaten trails and offering a total wilderness experience you will explore traditional Tamang villages, unspoiled and virtually untouched culture, life, crafts and nature. Similarly warm welcome by the locals rich in their distinct colorful costumes, their houses adorned with beautiful woodcarvings are the main attraction for the trekkers.

During this trek you can enjoy the dramatic views of Langtang Lirung (7245m.), Langtang Kerung, Dorje Lakpa (6989m.), Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Sringi Himal, and Sanjen Himal ranges. This trek offers a unique opportunity to experience true Himalayan culture and trekking journey all in one. This is a must-do trek for those seeking a more cultural experience in Nepal. A Tamang heritage trail is one of the best treks you should do not only for mountains but also you will have chance to meet locals.
