Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani is a village inMyagdi District in the Dhaulagiri Zone of northern-central Nepal.It lies 17 km from the district capital of Beni at an elevation of approximately 2874m (9429 ft). The village lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) and contains a number of ” g the night before a pre-dawn trek to the top of nearby Pun Hill (3210m/10531ft.) to watch the sunrise.The place used to be a rest stop where ancient traders found water(pani in Nepali) for their horses(ghora in Nepali) thus leading to the nomenclature Ghorepani.

Ghorepani lies on a major trail linking several other villages as well as the Annapurna Base Camp. From the South-East direction, it can normally be reached by foot from the village of Birethanti in about 10 hours depending on the trekker. However, many trekkers prefer to overnight at one of the lower villages on their way to Ghorepani. Ghorepani , covering the distance over two days owing to the steepness of the trail, the increase in altitude and the beauty of the natural surroundings. From the North-West direction, Ghorepani can be reached in about 8-10 hours starting from Tatopani. This trail passes through the villages of Shikha, Dana and Chitre.

Poon Hill

Poon Hill Trek is one of the best destination for all the nature lovers and who  loves to trek. The world famous Poon Hill lies in the Ghara VDC of Myagdi district. It is popularly known as Annapurna Sunrise trekking.It is the  perfect mini trek for starter and for those who have short time to experience Nepal. Invigorating through the Rhododendran forest, Poon Hill trekking in Nepal will let us  feel the Himalayan Panaroma and also provide the opportunities to get close to the local culture. Magars specially Pun community are welcoming the foreigners with their smile for long time.

However, Poon Hill Trek is obviously best known for the views from the poon hill. The highest altitude is 3210 m where there is no risk of getting high altitude sickness. Similarly, Poon hill offers the magnificient huge Himalayas including Annapurna South, Annapurana I,II,III and IV,Fishtail, Dhaulagiri,Lamjung Himal,Gangapurna, Manaslu ranges and among few others. This stunning glimse of high mountains surrounding can be  mesmorise by anyone who is part of this awesome trek.

Ghandruk

Ghandruk is a town and VDC in Kaski District where  beautiful gorge of Modi Khola flows from north to south between the huge Annapurna and Machhapuchre mountain ranges. The panoramic views of Ghandruk begins amid networks of terraced farmland from the gorge up towards west leading to the beautiful slate roofed village houses bordered by spectacular rhododendron forest to the west. Nestled at an altitude of 600ft above sea level, Ghandruk is beautifully set against the backdrop of Annapurna South, Himchuli and Macchapuchre Himalayas.

Furthermore, Ghandruk is home to thousands of British and Indian Gurkhas either serving or retired as well as war veterans who fought valiantly on numerous wars abroad. Because of its sheer numbers of gandrukes in one single battalion in the British Army one particular Gurkha regiment has the synonym of Ghandruke regiment. Ghandruk is also famous for second Gurung Village .

Landruk

After four full days of trekking, walking downhill from Ghandruk village to River Camp was a welcome respite. But the trail from River Camp was all uphill. Fortunately, it looks us through the scenic village of Landruk, where we had spectacular views of tyhe valley.

On our last night of this leg we stopped at Austrian Camp, a small clearing nestled in the forest and surrounded by mountains.

Australian Camp

Australian Camp set on the beautiful hill top offers striking views over the valleys and stunning views of the Annapurna Mountain range. Australian Camp, located on the ridge and having an incredible view of Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre and Lamjung Himal.
