Dhaulagiri Icefall Trek explores the off-the-beaten trails south of the Dhaulagiri massif. The trek concludes at the majestic Icefall at the foothill of the seventh highest mountain in the world, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m). Although the trekking route was recently opened, it has been gaining popularity thanks to the adventure and thrill of the trail. Along with it, you also get to enjoy the Gurung culture along with the settlements spread throughout the trail.
You start off the 12-day trek to Dhaulagiri Icefall at Kathmandu where you enjoy and explore the historic city filled with UNESCO world heritage sites like Swayambhunath Temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Then, you head to Tatopani via Beni. From there, you trek to Kalapani where you visit the deepest gorge of the world, the Kali Gandaki Gorge. After that, you head to Nauli Kot through rich vegetation and rhododendron forests. En route, you can enjoy the views of the Annapurna massif and other neighboring peaks like Manaslu (8163m), Dhaulagiri (7454m), and Gangapurna (7454m). The landscape itself is very unique that you enjoy every minute of the trek. The route to Dhaulagiri Icefall is steep and dangerous but once you reach there, all your hard work pays off because the scenery is breathtaking. From the foothill of the icefall, you get splendid views of Dhaulagiri I (8167m) and the Annapurna massif. You then head back to Tatopani and relax at the natural hot springs. Since the route can be dangerous at some points, it is recommended for you to have prior experience at trekking. The best time for this trek is spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November).

The trip starts with you arriving at Kathmandu via Tribhuvan International Airport. Our company’s representative will be present there to warmly welcome you to the country of Himalayas. Then, you are directed to your hotel where you refresh. Later, a trip member will brief you about the trip.
Today, a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s landmarks is arranged. The first stop after breakfast is Swayambhunath Temple and after enjoying the view, you head to Kathmandu Durbar Square. Then you head to Pashupatinath Temple after having lunch. The last stop is Boudhanath Stupa where you can have your dinner. During the tour, you can buy or rent items necessary for the trek.
After breakfast, you hit the road to reach Beni. Exiting the Prithvi Highway, you will drive along the Trishuli River. You stop at one of the hotels or restaurants along the road for lunch. After resting for a while, then you hit the road again to reach Beni. En route, you can see amazing views of Kali Gandaki and Myagdi rivers.
After an early breakfast, you hit the road to go to Tatopani along the Kali Gandaki River and you can catch glimpses of Dhaulagiri range. After having lunch there, you then trek to Kalapani. En route, you can explore the Kali Gandaki Gorge and enjoy the pristine beauty of the nature and splendid views of mountain ranges. After passing Ghasa and Lete, you arrive at Kalapani.
You head for the trail that leads you to Nauli Kot, which is the last village you stay before reaching the icefall. The trail gradually ascends through rhododendron forests along the western outskirts of the Annapurna Conservation Area. En route, you can enjoy the lush vegetation of the valley. You can get spectacular views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
Today is the day you explore the icefall. After an early breakfast, you first ascend to a forested area, which leads you to pastureland for yaks. After crossing the pastureland, you navigate to a rocky icy trail that leads you to the magnificent Icefall. Once you reach there you can explore the area and enjoy the majestic views of the Dhaulagiri ranges. You can enjoy the views of the surrounding glaciers, lakes, and mountains. Then, you head back to Nauli Kot.
From Nauli Kot, you descend to Tatopani. En route, you can enjoy the scenic views of the hills with Annapurna and Dhaulagiri at the background. There are teahouses throughout this route at which you can take short breaks. After reaching there, you take a dip at the famous hot springs and relax.
Today is the last day of the trek to enjoy the mountain surrounding as much as you can. En route, you can enjoy the lush forest vegetation and the trail you took to ascend to the Icefall. Once you reach Beni, you have your lunch and head to Pokhara. In Pokhara, you can rest or relax at the Lakeside. You can also choose to take a boat ride on the Phewa Lake while enjoying the views of the Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m).
This day is separated for you to enjoy Pokhara. After breakfast, you head for boating in Phewa Lake and then hike up to Peace Pagoda. From there, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Pokhara Valley. The next stop is Davis Fall and then the Mahendra Cave. The last stop will be the Bat Cave. All of these destinations are some of the major highlights in Pokhara and are brilliantly blended with nature and culture.
You head back to Kathmandu after breakfast via the Prithvi Highway. You enjoy the hills and farmlands of central Nepal. With the scenic views of the hills and the Trishuli River, you reach Kathmandu. A relaxing visit to the spa is ideal for your fatigued body before dinner.

On this day, you can relax or explore other parts of Kathmandu. If you want, we can manage transportation facilities for a visit Patan, Bhaktapur, or Kirtipur. Similarly, you can also take hikes to the hill stations like Nagarkot, Champadevi, or Shivapuri. You can also opt to travel by yourself. You can also do some last minute shopping and buy souvenirs.
