Itineraries

Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. A company representative will be there to accompany you to your hotel. If you have some time, be sure to explore around town for shopping or relaxing purposes.

We will provide you with a skilled tour guide and a private vehicle which will take you to the places of interest. The Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudha, and Pashupatinath are the destinations for the day. These are popular centers for Buddhism and Hinduism in the country and also the whole world. All of these are the UNESCO world heritage sites and are the cultural symbols of the valley.

The flight to Lukla is a spectacular trip and allows for wonderful views of the mountains. Your trek then begins along the Dudh Koshi River through pine and cedar forests. After passing many Sherpa settlements, Chortens, and Mani walls, you arrive at Phakding. Along the way, you can enjoy the view of the Kusum Khangkaru (6367m).

The trek today includes suspension bridges across the Dudh Koshi and lush Rhododendron forests. Just before arriving at Namche, you will pass the entry point of the Everest National Park. From here on, the trek section takes a steep route up to Namche Bazaar. The town is a beautiful sprawling town facing the jagged peak of Kongde Ri range. It is primarily a market town where people all over the region gather to buy and sell various products.

An acclimatization day is necessary and Namche Bazaar is the perfect place to do so. Namche is the gateway to the treks in the Everest Region. Therefore, it has grown to accommodate every need of a traveler thus it is studded with lodges, shops, and eateries. You can explore around the town or make your way to nearby Sherpa villages of Khumjung or Kongde for acclimatization hikes. If you wish for shorter hikes, you may also go to the Sherpa cultural museum that is above in a small plateau adjacent to Namche.

Tengboche is a gradual climb away from Namche, The trek begins through dense vegetation which slowly strips down and lessens as you climb up in altitude. You make your way through an established trail in the hilly switchbacks. The monastery in Tengboche holds great significance where Mani Rimdu festival is celebrated every year. In addition to this, the village provides wonderful views of Ama Dablam (6856m), Kangtega (6685m), the Mt. Everest (8848m), and Taboche (6367m).

The climb in altitude today is not much but a long distance is covered on a gradual climb. As you trek ahead, the vegetation turns to shrubs and small patches of grass or disappear completely. The view of the Ama Dablam (6856m) is clearly visible as you trek onwards. Dingboche is a modest village with the Mt. Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8414m) dominating its northern view. The village sits in at the edge of the Imja valley in the arid landscape.

Dingboche is a good acclimatization spot as it lies in close proximity to Chhukung. You can hike up the Chukung Ri peak and come back down to Dingboche to acclimatize. In order to properly acclimate your body, hiking is a better choice than to just rest. Chhukung Ri sits at 5546m and provides wonderful views of mountains and glaciers of the Imja valley.

The trek today is short and continues to Thukla. Take in the views of the mountains as you soak in their beauty and make your way forward. On your way to Lobuche, you pass Thukla which provides wonderful mountain views. From here on, the trail drops down into the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. As you travel on, you will be welcomed by the views of Khumbutse (6608m), Pumo Ri (7165m), and Lingtren (6749m) in close proximity.

You begin along with the opening of the Khumbu Glacier till you arrive at Gorakshep. From here on, you trek for few more hours through the icy and rocky moraines to the Everest Base Camp. The base camp is surrounded by the numerous Himalayas and offers serene views of the Khumbu Glacier and Icefall. After sightseeing, your helicopter will come to pick you up. From here, on it’s a bird’s eye view of the base camp below and the Mt. Everest (8848m) in front of you. Fully soak in the views before the Helicopter heads to Lukla to conclude the trip.

FAQ

There are many trekking routes in the Everest Region. Most of them begin with a short flight from Kathmandu takes you to Lukla. You trek uphill making your way past the Phakding to reach Namche Bazaar. From here, the trekking route depends upon the trek that you choose. The Everest Base Camp follows the route along Tengboche, Pangboche, Pheriche, Thukla, Lobuche, and Gorakshep to reach the Everest Base Camp. A number of treks follow this route either fully or in parts. Everest Panorama Trek, Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek, and EBC Cho La Pass Trek are a few examples. Similarly, another trekking route heads northwest to Thame and Lumde to cross Renjo La Pass (5360m) and reach Gokyo. Thereon, the route continues west and crosses Cho La Pass (5420m) to reach Lobuche and rejoins the EBC Trail. Another trekking route begins at Jiri and explores the Rolwaling region to reach Lukla and continue the trek from there. As such, there are many trekking routes in the Everest region.

The question about what the best time to trek Everest Region completely depends upon the experience that you are looking for. However, there are two major seasons for trekking they are Pre-monsoon/Spring (February, March, April) and Post-Monsoon/autumn (Late September, October, November). The temperature is perfectly mild and skies are much clearer giving the best possible view of the mountain ranges around. Also during these seasons the flora and fauna come to life. You get the opportunity to see the exotic wild species like snow leopard and blue sheep and also enjoy the beauty of hills covered with wildflowers. However, at high altitude, the weather always remains unpredictable. So expect the unexpected.

Located in a region susceptible to high altitude, the Everest trekking route is one of the most famous and highest trekking routes in the world. Typically it starts at an elevation of 2,840m in Lukla Airport and reaches the highest point of over 5,545m at Kalapatthar, the entire trek occurs in the two altitude regions: ‘high altitude’ and ‘very high altitude’. Therefore, there is a high chance of suffering from AMS and its better to look out for symptoms. The major symptoms includes nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and restlessness.

Most of the trekking trails are filled with tea houses so, you need not worry much about the internet and charging batteries. These lodges will provide you Wi-Fi services; however, may charge some additional money. The same also applies to charge ports. So, we recommend you buy a local SIM card and personal charging cable with a power bank.

The Everest region is majorly known for being the home to the highest mountain in the world- the Mt. Everest (8848m). Besides this, the region is popular for beautiful panoramic views of different mountain ranges like the Mt Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8485m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and Island Peak (6189m). Similarly, the warm hospitality of Sherpa people is also one of the things that makes this region a famous destination amongst travel enthusiasts. Other than this, the region is known for the wide variety of unique vegetation and exotic species of wild animals.

Lukla Airport is often labeled as the most dangerous airport in the world due to its location and altitude. As such, the weather at this altitude can change within a few hours which leads to flight cancellation and delays. However, in the months between October and May, the flights quite are regular. In case of flight cancellation or even delay, you might have to stay an additional day at the Lukla. Therefore, we highly recommend all visitors to allocate a few contingency days during the trip to Nepal.

Everest region is located at extreme altitude so, preparing yourself for the trek is highly important. The trek requires a certain level of physical fitness. Also preparing yourself for the trip in order to tackle the issues of altitude sickness is also a must. For this, you can take special training classes or research about the dos and don’ts of trekking. Other than this, adding up cardio and strength training in your routine is a must before the trip.
