Tsum Valley Trek
The Tsum valley trekking is one of the distant and ...
Kalinchowk Hiking is a short and scenic adventure to the northeast of the Kathmandu Valley. The hike concludes at the Kalinchowk Temple which is one of the famous Hindu temples dedicated to the Goddess Kali. Kalinchowk Hiking is a quick getaway from Kathmandu which allows you to relish in the pristine Himalayan setting. The hiking trails are more crowded during the winter season, as the snowfall adds an extra dimension to the hike.
The two-day Kalinchowk Hiking trip starts from Kathmandu with a drive to Charikot. From there, you hike to Kuri Bazaar, one of the famous touristic spots of Dolakha. The hiking trail to Kuri heads through pine forests with sparse human settlements on the way. Kuri Bazaar is a small village filled with lodges and restaurants. The village is situated at the foot of the hill where Kalinchowk Temple is located. From Kuri Bazaar, a short hike leads you to this revered temple. After paying homage to the goddess, you can stroll around the temple and enjoy spectacular views of mountains and surrounding scenery. If the weather is favorable, you can also catch views of Himalayas in Gaurishankar, Ganesh, Jugal, and Langtang ranges. On the hike, you also get to enjoy the traditional lifestyles and cuisines of different communities like Sherpa, Brahmin, and Chhetri. The hike through the rhododendron forests filled with birds and animals will connect you with the pristine nature of this region. The Kalinchowk Hike can be done all year round but if you want to enjoy the snow, it is recommended to come during winter (December to February) and early spring (March to May). Similarly, autumn (September to November) is the best time to enjoy the sights of the mountains.
