Enjoy trekking through the scenic hills around the Kathmandu Valley while observing the indigenous lifestyle, culture, and traditions of the inhabitants on the Kathmandu Valley Trek. The trek encompasses Kathmandu Rim Valley Trek along with a short trek to few popular hill-stations namely Dhulikhel, Namo Buddha, Lakuri Bhanjyang, Panauti, and Lamatar. The trek is designed to take you far away from the hustle-bustle of the city and into the lap of pristine nature.
The 8-day Around Kathmandu Valley Trek begins upon your arrival in the historical Kathmandu City. The trek begins with a short drive to Sundarijal located almost 25km north of the Kathmandu city. It serves as the gateway to Shivapuri National Park that is home to the pristine Chisapani village. You’ll gradually trek through the lush forests and streams to arrive at the quaint village of Chisapani. You’ll continue through the forested trail and numerous Newar settlements to reach Nagarkot. A popular tourist getaway, Nagarkot offers the beautiful view of the Himalayan peaks in Langtang, Gaurishankar, and even Everest ranges along with the majestic sunrise and sunset. Afterward, you’ll continue trekking southeast towards another popular hill-station of Dhulikhel. After completing the Kathmandu Rim Valley Trek, you’ll continue trekking towards Panauti village via Namo Buddha. Namo Buddha boats of an ancient Buddhist stupa perched on the hill-top looking like the Shangri-La from the distance. After exploring the stupa, you’ll cross Balthali village and reach Panauti. The last section of the trek brings you towards Lakuri Bhanjyang (1977m) and continues until Lamatar, a small Newar settlement located in the outskirts of Lalitpur City. The trip concludes upon your return to Kathmandu City. The natural trek can be undertaken anytime throughout the year but, are best during spring (Mar-Jun) and autumn (Sep-Nov) seasons.

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will warmly receive you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. You will meet your trek guide at the hotel and discuss the trek in detail. If you need to purchase any trekking gear, equipment, or accessory, you can visit the nearby trek shops.
After early breakfast, you’ll embark on a short road journey towards Sundarijal. From Sundarijal, you’ll commence trekking and head towards Shivapuri National Park. Shivapuri National Park is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The first stop will at Mulkharka and the trek continue uphill towards the village of Chisapani. At Chisapani, you’ll be welcomed with the magnificent view of Himalayas in Gaurishankar and Langtang ranges.
Exploring the beautiful Chisapani village, you’ll continue along the trail and cross lushly decorated forests and small Newar settlements towards Nagarkot. The day’s trek will take you through the lush forested path towards Nagarkot. Nagarkot is a popular hill-station located 35km outside of Kathmandu. The tourist site remains popular for its cool weather, majestic panorama of the Mt. Everest (8848m), Langtang (7227m), and Ganesh (7422m), and the beautiful view of the sunrise and sunset.
After enjoying the beautiful sunrise from the watchtower of Nagarkot, you’ll make a short trek to another popular hill-station known as Dhulikhel. You’ll continue southeast through the lush forested path and small streams to reach Dhulikhel via Banepa. Dhulikhel is a hill-station inhabited mostly by Newar inhabitants. You’ll witness numerous old wood and mud houses, temples, and narrow alleys at Dhulikhel.
Leaving Dhulikhel, you’ll begin trekking towards Panauti. First, you’ll trek to the nearby hill-top destination of Namobuddha. Namobuddha is a revered Buddhist stupa perched on a hill just 12km from Dhulikhel. After exploring the stupa, you’ll begin trekking towards Balthali village. The trail passes through rice fields and orchards to the quiet village of Balthali. You’ll pass through beautiful small villages and terraced fields to reach the Newar town of Panauti.
Leaving Panauti, you’ll head towards Lakuri Bhanjyang located at the outskirts of Lalitpur district. You’ll pass through forested hills, small settlements, and narrow ridges to arrive at Lakuri Bhanjyang. The final ascent of the high-hill can prove to be difficult. From the top, you can catch the spectacular view of the Kathmandu valley and the surrounding mountains.
Leaving Lakuri Bhanjyang, you’ll descend down the hill and start trekking towards Lamatar. You’ll head west of Lakuri Bhanjyang and trek through the sparse settlements to arrive at the bustling Newari village of Lamatar. A traditional Newari village in a quaint surrounding, Lamatar offers a great insight into the life of the natives of Kathmandu. From here, you’ll catch your commute back to the hotel.
