Embark on a scenic yet adventurous helicopter tour of one of the most pristine Himalayan regions in Nepal on the Langtang Heli Tour. A 45-minute long journey takes you above the scenic hills of Nepal to Kyanjin Gompa, a mountainous site situated on the lap of Langtang Lirung, Langshisha Ri, and Kyanjin Ri ranges. The Langtang Heli Tour begins at the historical Kathmandu City. You’ll embark on a helicopter with your guide and fly north towards the Langtang Valley. The tour begins the early morning. You’ll be picked up and escorted to the airport from where you’ll catch the helicopter to embark on a tour of Langtang Valley. The aerial tour offers the great sight of the lushly forested hills of Central Nepal including the massive rivers, colorful towns and villages, and snow-laden peaks. The helicopter also flies over the Gosainkunda Lake revealing a mesmerizing system of lakes on the way. You’ll fly over Langtang village situated on the foothill of Langtang Lirung and take a detour towards Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin is a mountainous area that is home to an ancient Buddhist monastery called Kyanjin Gompa. Once at the site, you’ll explore the monastery and the nearby cheese factory before heading back to Kathmandu. Some of the mountains visible during the tour are Langtang Lirung (7227m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), and numerous others in the Gangchempo, Jugal, Tibetan, and Gaurishankar Himal ranges. The best seasons to visit Langtang are spring (March-June) and autumn (September-November).

7:00 AM – You’ll be picked up from the hotel by your guide in a private car. Afterward, you’ll drive to the airport with your colleague. You’ll check-in at the domestic terminal of the airport. From here, the custom will let you off to the helipad, where the helicopter will be waiting for you. The pilot will assess the condition before taking-off. You can simply relax.
8:00 AM – You’ll take off from Tribhuvan International Airport and head northwest towards Langtang valley. The flight may last anywhere around 35-45 minutes. In the flight, you can enjoy the aerial view of the entire Kathmandu valley along with some of its unique UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You’ll gradually advance over Langtang National Park, where you can witness the lush alpine forests, oligotrophic lakes, and snowy terrains. The holy lake of Gosainkunda will be visible along with the Helambu region. You’ll fly over Langtang village located on the lap of Langtang Lirung and head into the mountains to reach Kyanjin Gompa.
8:30 AM: Once at Kyanjin, you can get off and explore the surrounding. You will be here for only about 30-40min, hence you can begin by exploring the nearby Kyanjin monastery. It is the oldest Buddhist monastery in the entire region. Kyanjin is a Tibetan influenced village enamored with spectacular scenery, ancient monasteries, and beautiful mountain views. The majestic panorama of the nearby mountains will clearly be visible namely Ganesh Himal (7422m), Langtang Lirung (7227m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m).
9:00 AM – After exploring the Langtang valley, you’ll embark on the helicopter and fly back to Kathmandu. You’ll retrace your path and fly over Langtang National Park and Helambu region to reach Kathmandu. Once at Kathmandu, you’ll be escorted to your hotel.
The trip ends with your departure back home. Our representative makes sure that no personal belongings are misplaced and takes you to the airport according to your scheduled flight. We wish you a safe flight back home.

Langtang region offers wide choices of trekking options ranging from 3 days to 3 weeks. However, the two major routes are: Langtang Gosainkunda, Helambu route: It is a moderate level trek route that starts from Kathmandu and ventures towards Sybrubensi. Furthermore, the trek will lead you towards the Kyangin Gompa (a major landmark) and then to Gosainkunda Lake at 4480 meters. Afterward, we will trek down towards Ghopte, Gul Bhanjyang, Chisapani and then back to Sundarijal. Langtang Ganja La trek route: It is also a moderate level trek route that starts from Sybrubensi. The route goes all the way through a Langtang village, Kyanjin Gompa and up towards the Ganja La pass at 5130 meters. From there, we trek down Tarkeghyang, Sermathang, and Melamchi bazar and finally back to the Kathmandu.
Autumn (September-November), is regarded as the best season for the trekking in Nepal. The season allows you to experience the beautiful mountains, green hills. Also, the weather is clear with mild to warm days and cold nights. Similarly, spring (March-May) is another the good season for this trek. During this season, you can see the beautiful wildflowers blooming in the jungle, luscious greenery, and sparkling mountains in an excellent background.
Altitude Sickness, also known as Acute Mountain Sickness, is a major issue amongst the trekkers. The Langtang region is located at an extremely high altitude and the trek may take you up to the height of 5000 meters. Due to this, trekkers are highly susceptible to AMS. AMS is a very common sickness and usual symptoms may include dizziness, muscle ache, nausea, headache, vomiting and many more. Similarly, HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema) And HACE (High Altitude Cerebral Edema) are the extreme forms of AMS which are life-threatening and must be treated in time. Trekkers must always be cautious regarding the symptoms of altitude sickness and immediately inform the trek leader if the symptoms do appear.
Most of the places in Langtang have solar-generated power or hydroelectricity. So, if you want to charge your camera, cell phone or battery, you can easily get those services. However, you might have to pay an extra sum of money in some cases. On the other hand, it’s safe to carry backups and portable chargers with you. Nonetheless, there are a few places where you can find a reliable internet connection. So, you must buy a Sim Card if you are to trek in the Langtang region.
