Mardi Himal trekking is a less crowded and fascinating trail across the east of Modi Khola and Hiunchuli Valley. The short and easy Mardi Trek is filled with dense forests of rhododendron and varieties of vegetation and plants. After the official opening in 2012 for the trekking, the Mardi trail has welcomed a number of explorers and trekkers to praise its royal beauty. The trek to Mardi rewards with the glamorous views of Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna II (7937 m), Annapurna III (7555 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Himchuli (6441 m) and Machhapuchhre (6933 m).

The Mardi Himal Trek begins after your arrival at the beautiful Kathmandu city of Nepal. From Kathmandu, you can either drive or take a flight to Pokhara. A short drive from the City of Lakes- Pokhara, leads you to Phedi which is the trail-head for the trek. The forested trails then head to Forest Camp followed by Low Camp, and High Camp. The rhododendron trees and sublime views of the mountains make the trek even more beautiful. The sunrise view of the mountains from the Upper Viewpoint (4200 m) is a relaxing and peaceful experience. An hour walk from the Upper Viewpoint leads to the Mardi Himal Base Camp, which presents the incredibly breathtaking view of the Mardi Himal. On the return trek, the trails pass through numerous Gurung villages like Sidhing and Lumre. The Mardi Himal trail will amaze in every step with its diversified flora, fauna, and villages. The hospitality of the teahouses and Gurung villages offers serene stops throughout the trek. The trekking is best in the months of Sep-Nov and March-April. However, we provide the services also for the winter adventurers who wish to walk the snowy path in the month of Dec-Feb.

You can contact us, at Cold Feet Adventure, to book the trek for any season you prefer. We provide the guides and porter services as well and make your trip the most memorable with our quality and friendly environment. Join us to travel even more joyfully!

Itineraries

A company representative will be present at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to welcome you on your arrival. He/she will escort you to the hotel on a company vehicle. After checking in, you can spend the day as per your wish. A briefing of the trek is also done if time permits.

After breakfast, you go on a day tour of Kathmandu city. The visit of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square is on the list. You will get familiar with the culture and lifestyle of the people. In addition, you get some idea of Nepalese history and arts. In the evening, you can prepare for the trek.

After breakfast, we begin our drive towards the lake city Pokhara. We pass through the terrains and farms along the Trishuli and Marsayangdi River. We cross the beautiful bazaars and settlements of Malekhu and Dumre. We can also take an optional 25-minute flight to Pokhara. This will offer some time to explore the city and saves 6-7 hours of drive.

We start the trekking after a short drive from Pokhara to Phedi. We start the trail towards Dhampus taking the gradual stone stairs. We ascend through the Yangri Khola valley and the old houses of the villages. The walk through the farm and houses lead us to a steep climb through the forests. We can also enjoy the breathtaking views of the Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail|6997m) from Deurali.

After the breakfast with the amazing sunrise view from Deurali, we ascend towards the forest camp (also called Kokar Forest Camp). We pass through the dense and alluring forests of rhododendron, daphnia, mountain oak, and maple. The trekking trail is comparatively less crowded and we will enjoy a solitary feeling in the woods. After passing the jungle for the day, we reach the forest camp for the night stay.

Today, we trek towards the low camp after breakfast. We get the steep climb for an hour until we reach the rest camp. From there, the trail is gradual and moderate through the old and cold woods. We observe the spectacular views of the Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Machhapuchhre (6997m) from the Low Camp. There are a few lodges which offer great hospitality to the trekkers.

In the beginning, we take a steep climb through the forests until we reach Badal Danda. The rhododendron forests begin to widen and the grasslands offer a marvelous beauty. From the upper hills of Badal Danda, we can relish a panoramic view of the snowcapped mountains. The trail upwards is through the grassy landscapes until we reach High Camp. The Machhapuchhre (6997m) is closer than ever and gives us a pleasant welcome.

We start the trek early in the morning as we pass through the steep and grassy slopes. The trek takes about 2-3 hours where we pass lower and middle viewpoints. The mountain shows from the Upper Viewpoint highlights the stunning view of the Annapurna Himalayan range. It is a heavenly experience to witness the sunrise view over the mountains. We can also hike upwards to the Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500 m) where the path is mostly covered with snow. We return to the high camp after the marvelous date with the mountains.

After breakfast, we descend to the village of Sidhing. We take the route along with the dense forests from High Camp to Sidhing. We mainly walk downhill today in the woods to reach Sidhing. The village is lovely and beautiful with terrace farms and fields. The village is composed of Gurung and Magar inhabitants and offers great hospitality to the passing trekkers.

Today, we take the road through the hillside villages and walk towards Lumre. The trek is short and through the motorable road. We cross the Modi Khola River and enter the Lumre village. Here, we get on a vehicle and drive to Pokhara. We pass the valley of Hemja and reach Pokhara. We can celebrate the completion of the Mardi Himal Trek around lakeside or take some rest.

This morning, we head back to Kathmandu following the banks of Marsayangdi and Trishuli River. We can also take the flight directly from Pokhara airport to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu by, either way, we check in to the hotel and rest our backpacks. You may celebrate the trip with some chilled Beer and make our visit to the streets for the last evening in the city.

The marvelous journey to the Mardi Himal ends today. We take you to the airport in a private vehicle before the scheduled flight time. We make sure that all your belongings and luggage are safe and in proper condition. We hope to see you again in Nepal and join us on a wild adventure. We wish you a good time ahead!
