Mohare Danda Trek provides one of the most unique and compelling travel experience beneath the Annapurna Himalayas. After a long road trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara, you begin a second road trip to Galeshwor. The trip will be thrilling as you will make your way beside the Kali Gandaki River and in between never-ending hill gorges. From Galeshwor, you make your way to Bans Kharka. From Bans Kharka, it's a long but fairly easier route to the Magar village of Nangi. This is the last settlement before arriving up at the peak of Mohare Danda. The trek to the top of Mohare Danda involves a great amount of climbing. The people and lodges at the top of the hill and in general all over this trek will make hospitality a big priority. After thoroughly enjoying the views of the Annapurna Himalayas from Mohare, you will head down to Deurali and Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a Gurung village famed for its beauty and age-old traditions on display. From here, you make your way to Nayapul from where you are going to drive back to Pokhara. You can relax in Pokhara reminiscing the trip, before heading out back to Kathmandu the next day. Generally, all seasons are good for the Mohare Danda Trek; however, monsoon (June-early September) can be avoided.

After your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be escorted to your hotel by a company representative. Exiting the airport, the drive leads you to the hotel. You can explore around the hotel and scour any souvenirs you may like.
The drive to Pokhara is a long but scenic one. The route takes you along the Trishuli River and through hilly landscapes. The large hillsides border both sides of the road all the way through. Pokhara is a beautiful city which welcomes you with the majestic Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m). After arrival, you can explore the lakeside area and relax after your long journey.
After having breakfast, we head for Galeshwor early in the morning. You will pass through the towns of Kushma, Baglung, and Beni along the way. You will then finally arrive at Galeshwor, a village along the Kali Gandaki River. From Galeshwor our trekking begins and we will be having a short hike to Bans Kharka. The trek will take you predominantly along the Kali Gandaki River through dense coniferous forests.
After a 6-7 hours’ trek from Bans Kharka, we arrive at Nangi. Along the way, you get mesmerizing views of mountains and pass through the impressive landscape of the lower hills. Nangi is beautiful Magar settlement. You may notice the locals going about their day on their terraced farmlands. The lifestyle and traditional norms of the village are unique and interesting to observe.
The trek is blessed with lush vegetation and explores the Kali Gandaki valley. The settlements along the way are home to the Thakali, Rai, Gurung and Magars who live a primarily agrarian lifestyle farming on the cultivated lands around the village. After a 6-7 hours hike up we arrive at the top of Mohare Danda. The top offers wonderful views of Annapurna Mountains, Dhaulagiri (8167m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Nilgiri (7061m).
Early in the morning, you can hike around the nearby viewpoints to relish the magnificent panorama of the Himalayas glistening with the first rays of the sunlight. After enjoying the sunrise, you return to your lodging and prepare for the trek. The trek today is full of many wavy up and down sections as we get to the village of Ghorepani which is also the junction before getting to Poonhill. We, however, continue onwards to Deurali. After walking for around 6 hours, we arrive at Deurali.
The trend of trekking up and down continues today. You will trek through the cultivated hills and thick forests. Rhododendron trees will dominate the scenery sometimes leaning in to give you shade on the route. After 6-7 hours’ e arrive at the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk, with traditional houses and the backdrop of wonderful mountains. Many lodges in Ghandruk are the prime example of Nepali hospitality and is a perfect place to relax and unwind after your trek.
At Ghandruk too, we can enjoy the sunrise over the mountains like Machhapuchhre (6997m) and Annapurna South (7219m). After breakfast, we head towards Nayapul on a gradual descent. The trail is not that difficult and is made special by the many beautiful villages and their way of life you get to witness on your trek back. Especially as their actions are barely affected by tourism due to them not being the main destinations. From Nayapul you take a bus to Pokhara, where you are free to do as you please and relax by the lakeside or rest for the day.
Our trek concludes and the bus will take us back the route we came from. It will again be a repeat of your first day of travel, as you travel riverside. Be sure to enjoy the beauty of the Nepali countryside one last time as you reminisce your prior trek. On any time left in the evening, you can go exploring around time tick off any last minute shopping lists.
