Tsum Valley Trek
The Tsum valley trekking is one of the distant and ...
The governments of Nepal and China agreed to open the border between their countries in 1993. From then on, people are able to make tours to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake through Humla, Simikot, which is Nepal’s most remote district in the Northwest part of the country. And this route is considered to be the shortest and most practical for trekkers in terms of elevation and distance. Apart from that, it offers you with astounding views and great richness in culture and history.
Mount Kailash via Simikot Trek starts from Simikot which is situated at an elevation of 2910m and the trail climbs up to Nara La Pass before reaching the arid Tibetan Plateau. It takes about 6 days journeys to reach the Tibetan border town Shera from Simikot. And this will give you plenty of time to acclimatize to higher altitudes. Since there is no direct air service from Kathmandu to Simikot, we generally fly to Simikot via Nepalgunj. As Nepalgunj to Simikot flights only operate early in the morning, we have to stay one night in Nepalgunj to catch the early morning flight the next day.
