Chulu Far East Peak (6429m), as the name suggests, sits at the easternmost edge of the perfect Chulu Himal range chain. On the trip, one gets to experience the unique landscape and culture of Annapurna Himalayas from a different perspective. The Chulu Far East Peak Climbing trip culminates with the magnificent view of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), and other peaks in Pisang, Nilgiri, and Annapurna ranges. All in all, the journey runs through Tibetan-influenced villages like Manang and reaches the Tilicho Lake to conclude the trip.
The 20-day Chulu Far East Peak Climbing Trip starts with your arrival at Kathmandu where you prepare for the climb and explore the historic city. Then, you head to Chame via road from where the trek starts. The drive goes along the Prithvi Highway after exiting Kathmandu Valley and heads north from Besisahar along the Marsayangdi River to reach Chame. You pass by many beautiful villages like Humde and get a chance to enjoy the pristine surroundings of rivers like Julu Khola and Marsayangdi River. These villages are inhabited by heart-warming hospitality and culture of the Tibetan people. En route, you also get to explore the unique flora and fauna of the Annapurna Conservation Area. After crossing Julu Khola and acclimatizing at Base Camp, you scale the Chulu Far East. From the summit, you get spectacular views of the neighboring peaks like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After the climb to the top of the Chulu Far East Peak (6429m), the trek heads to Tilicho Lake. Thereon, the final leg of the trek heads to Jomsom and settles at Pokhara via a short flight. Beginners can also scale this peak but since you are going to climb a mountain, it is recommended that you have prior experience in mountaineering. The best time for this trip is spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November).

The first day of this trip starts with your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. You are heartily welcomed by our company’s staffs and they guide you to your hotel. You will also be shortly briefed about the small details of the trip as well.
This day is separated for you to buy or rent necessary items needed for the trek. The guide will brief you about all the basic steps to climb the peak. After completing the preparation, you can visit the landmarks of Kathmandu like Swayambhunath and Basantapur or, explore the alleys and lifestyle of the city.
Since the drive to Chame takes almost the whole day, you hit the road after an early breakfast. The highway goes along the banks of Trishuli River first and then goes along the Marsayangdi River. You can enjoy the beautiful views of the hilly landscape, terrace farms, and traditional villages along the route. The drive passes Mugling, Dumre, Besisahar, and Jagat to reach Chame.
Today, you begin the trek and the first destination is Pisang. The trail is narrow and uphill and passes through a dense pine forest. The trail along the banks of Marsayangdi River provides you with views of the beautiful Himalayas and the Manang Valley. After crossing the Swargadwari Bridge, you arrive at Dhikur Pokhari and follow with a trek to Pisang.
You head to Humde after breakfast and the trail today is relatively short. Leaving Pisang, the trail heads to Narodhara. Continuing along the Marsayangdi River, you cross Tallo Humde to reach Humde. Humde is a small village, which homes the airstrip, teahouses and the longest prayer wheel with 266 wheels.
The trail today goes through thin pine forest and scarce vegetation. En route, you can witness the marvelous views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges along with the Chulu peak. The trail today is leveled more or less in comparison to other parts of the trail so, you will feel no difficulty in reaching your destination. You then arrive at the banks of Julu Khola where you set up camp for overnight stay.
Since you will cross the altitude of 5,000 m, this day is separated for you to acclimatize to avoid altitude sickness. You can explore and hike to the nearby areas. It is essential to walk or hike to make yourself familiar with the high altitudes. The surrounding landscape of the Julu Khola is unique so, it is hard to miss out the opportunity of exploring it.
After breakfast and packing up, today you climb a steep uphill trail that leads you to Far East Base Camp. The steep trail is filled with rocky settings, which might make it difficult for you. En route, you can enjoy the Annapurna range and the mountain landscape as well. Once you reach the base camp, you set up camp for overnight stay.
You need to acclimatize to the high altitudes as you are going to climb up to 6,000 m. so this day is separated for acclimatization. The guides will brief you on preparation for the summit. Today, you trek to the High Camp along the steep snowy trail. En route, you can witness the Annapurna and Chulu ranges along with other neighboring peaks. Following the Julu River, the trek passes through gorges and ridges of the surrounding hills. Once you reach the High Camp, you set up the tents and prepare for the ascent to the top of the Chulu Far East Peak (6429m).
Climbing at mid-day can be difficult as the wind gets strong so, you start the climb early morning. So, after having an early breakfast, the guides make way and adjust all necessary process, as the climb is very steep. Once you reach the top, you can relish breathtaking views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Kangla, and Pisang ranges. After enjoying the views, you head back to the base camp.
After the tiring climb, it’s time to head back. You clean up the camp and head to the first stop, Manang. This part of the trail goes downhill and you enjoy scenic views of the mountain landscape. Once you reach Manang, you can experience and explore their unique culture by visiting teahouses and shops. You can also visit the Braka Gompa and Boozo Gompa on the way.
The trek today leads you to Siri Kharka. You enjoy the beautiful views of Khangsar Khola along the uphill route and then cross the bridge to reach Khangsar village. En route, you can see the majestic Gungang Himal (5312m) and Mt. Chulu (6584m). After resting here for a while, you walk until you reach Siri Kharka.
The trail today gets narrow at some points and goes downhill as well. You cross glaciers, lakes, and areas affected by landslides. Due to this reason, some parts of the trail can be tricky and you need to be cautious. The step trail crosses Tosinja and reaches the Tilicho Base Camp. Once you reach Tilicho Base Camp, you set up tents and enjoy the views.
After an early breakfast, you head towards the Tilicho Lake, the lake at the highest altitude in the world. The steep uphill route is filled with moraines and you can enjoy spectacular views of the mountain terrain. Once you reach Tilicho Lake, you can explore the mesmerizing Tilicho Lake and its surroundings. The lake is situated at the base of the Tilicho Peak (7134m) and also offers beautiful scenery of Nilgiri and Annapurna ranges.
You start your day after early breakfast, as you have to cross Mesokanto La Pass [5,467m]. The climb is fairly difficult and involves walking along trails which are snowy and steep. The top of the Mesokanto La Pass offers a scenic panorama of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Muktinath Himal ranges. After crossing this pass you enter Mustang district. Following an icy steep descent, you reach the pasture grounds of Yak Kharka.
After packing up the tents and cleaning up, you head to the final leg of the trek. After a few hours of descent, you reach Thini after passing the Prabsa Goat Farm. The trail crosses the Thini River and heads along the Murghyuna River. Finally, you follow the easy trail along the Kali Gandaki River to reach the town in no time.
You catch an early flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. The flight offers beautiful sights of the Annapurna and Nilgiri ranges to reach Pokhara. In Pokhara, you can visit some of the famous places like Davis Falls, International Mountain Museum, and Mahendra Cave after freshening up. You can also choose to relax at Lakeside and boat on the Phewa Lake to end the day.
After a comforting night at Pokhara, you head to Kathmandu after breakfast. En route, you can enjoy the scenic views of hills and Trishuli River. By late afternoon, you will reach your hotel. You can either opt to rest at the hotel or shop for souvenirs.
