Pikey Peak Trek is a newly introduced and less traveled trail in the outskirts of the Gauri Shankar Conservation Area. The trek gradually ascends through the Rolwaling Valley and heads to the top of the Pikey Peak (4068m). Pikey Peak is said to be one of the grandest viewpoints to witness the panorama of Everest, Langtang, Gauri Shankar, Ganesh, and Langtang ranges. The trekking to the Pikey Peak is an ultimate experience with the pristine mountains and the authentic Sherpa culture. The trek also makes stop at some of the biggest monasteries in Rolwaling Valley like Chiwong and Taksindu monasteries.
The 9-day Pikey Peak Trek starts with your arrival in the City of Temples, Kathmandu. From there, you will have a drive to Dhap Bazaar. The trek from Dhap Bazaar will take you to an amazing adventure through numerous Sherpa culture and Sherpa monasteries. Passing the villages of Jhapre, Bhulbhule, and Jase Bhanjyang, the trek makes an ascent along with the rhododendron and magnolia forests. A gradual ascent heads to the top of the Pikey Peak. The top of the peak is one of the greatest vantage points to enjoy the panorama of the Everest, Numbur, and Rolwaling ranges. On the return journey, you pass through the villages of Loding, Junbesi, Taksindu, and Phaplu. At Taksindu, you will visit the Taksindu Gompa and head to Chiwong monastery on the descent to Phaplu. The villages of the region are mainly inhabited by the Sherpa community following the Buddhist and Tibetan traditions. The trek is most incredible during spring and autumn (Sep to Dec & Feb to June). You can also do the trek during the remaining seasons.

A company representative will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). You will be driven to the hotel in a cab and brief introduction of the trek is given as per your convenient time. You can spend the day with some sightseeing in the capital city of the country or have a rest before the start of the trek.
The journey of the next day begins with a drive through the BP Highway and the Basin of Sun Koshi River. The road moves forward and you will witness the beautiful town of Ghurmi and rhododendron forests on the way. After about 7 hours’ drive to Dhap and some lunch in the healthy environment of Dhap Bazaar, the trek begins. The dirt and steep road of the trail lead to Sigane village followed by Dhap.
The trail now leads to a grassy hill at Bhulbhule offering the splendid view of the great Everest range. The day trip to the Pikey Base camp passes through the beautiful forests of rhododendrons. The villages from Taklung Danda are decorated with amazing Buddhist stone sculptures and Mani walls. You can also see the Yak houses on the way upwards to the base camp and can visit the Yak cheese factory for an organic taste of Yak cheese.
The morning begins with a hike to the top of the Pikey Peak (4068m). the hill-top vantage point offers you with a breathtaking panoramic view of mountain ranges from Annapurna to Kanchenjunga. The vibes and views from the Pikey peak top at an altitude of 4068 m will be your one of the relaxing experience of the trek. Following the prayer flags and the sound of mountainous winds, you will follow a peaceful forest of Jase Bhanjyang. You will descend to a height of 2515 m after reaching Loding for the night stay.
The day will be started with a good breakfast and heading downwards. You will cross the old forest of Taktor and join the trail to Junbesi. The fragrance of authentic Sherpa and Buddhist culture marks your welcome into the sacred village of the Himalayas. The side trail to the Thuptenchholing monastery is an awesome experience to get the insight of the Sherpa culture and traditions.
Begin the morning with a view of Everest range from Junbesi, you continue the trail leading to Taksindu. After crossing the freshwater river and air of the forests, you will reach the village of Salung. You will get the mesmerizing sight of the Mount Everest (8848m), Chamlang (7321m), and Mt. Makalu (8463m). You will pass through Tibetan villages including Ringmu village.
The trail from Taksindu to Phaplu leads you through the forests and less crowded route. You can also visit the Chiwong monastery situated at the top of the valley. The monastery provides you with the history of Buddhist and Tibetan culture. In autumn, you will be able to witness the Mani Rimdu festival with the exhilarating celebrations. The trek will be complete with your arrival in the village of Phaplu.
After waving goodbyes to the mountains and the amazing Sherpa hospitality, you will make your way back to Kathmandu. You can have a relaxing day in Kathmandu with some sightseeing or you can spend the day as per your wish. Kathmandu will make your time memorable with lively streets and nightlife
