In fact Rara is the largest lake in Nepal which is located in the altitude of 2980m. Rara Lake Trek begins from Jumla which is known as the largest upland hill town in the west Nepal. You arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu where our company’s representatives are there to warmly welcome you. Then you are taken to your hotel where you refresh. You will also meet the guides and staffs who will accompany you on this trip.
After breakfast, you board the first flight to Nepalgunj, which lies in west Nepal. During the flight, you can enjoy the Himalayas as you leave Kathmandu for the beautiful flatlands of Terai. After arriving there, you have your lunch and go to your hotel where you stay overnight. You can also choose to explore the local areas and attractions around the city.
You catch an early flight to Jumla from Nepalgunj. The airstrip of Jumla is one of the best remote airstrips of Nepal. You can observe the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges on the flight. Once you reach Jumla, you can stroll around and witness a blend of modern and traditional culture. Enjoy the local hospitality and cuisines as you prepare for the trek that begins the next day.
After breakfast, you head on to the trail that goes along the banks of Tila Khola. You walk through pine and birch forests that lead you to lush vegetation unique to Jumla region. Then you ascend to Patmara, a Chhetri village, along some steep cliffs. After resting at the last village of Patmara, you reach your destination, Danphe Langa where you camp for overnight stay.
You hit the trail that goes uphill after breakfast. Today too, you walk through a forest full of pine, birch, bamboo, and walnut. The trail continues along the northern banks of Lete Gad River from where you cross a bridge that reaches Nauri Ghat. From then onwards, the trails ascend to Bharbhare, an old Tibetan village and then you descend to Chautha.
After breakfast, you hit the rocky steep trail that leads you to Chante Chaur. From there you continue to Bulbule and reach the entrance for Rara National Park. After showing your permit, you enjoy the amazing biodiversity, picturesque views of Mugu Karnali River and cross the Ghurchi Lagna Pass (3,480m). After crossing the pass, you come to Pina and descend to Dhotu.
After breakfast, you head towards Jhyari, a small Thakuri village. En route, you can catch glimpses of the spectacular Rara Lake. Once you reach there through the northern entrance where there are park headquarters and camping ground, you can relax around Rara Lake. The serenity of the lake vicinity combined with the spectacular beauty of the lake itself add up to an unforgettable experience. You can explore the forests around the lake and enjoy the prosperous bio-diversity of the Rara National Park.
Today is separated for you to enjoy and explore the pristine beauty of Rara Lake, the largest lake of Nepal. You can walk around the lake and soak into the magnificent view. You then also visit the park headquarters for more information about the national park and the lake. You can also see animals like Moschus, Himalayan Thar, Leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Jackal, and Otter around the lake premise.
After breakfast, you hit the trail along the Khatyar Khola. You walk past pine, rhododendron and spruce forests and can also get glimpses of the glorious peaks that border with Tibet. The trail then goes downhill through ridges and cliffs. After a steep descent, you reach to Ghorosingha.
Today, you descend to Ghatte Valley after breakfast and from there onwards walk along the banks of Sinja Khola. En route, you can see marvelous views of Sinja valley, fertile lands, and terraced farmlands. After reaching Gana, you rest and then descend to Sinja. Brahmin and Chhetri are the major inhabitants of the village. Sinja is believed to the capital of the ancient Khas Kingdom and also the birthplace of Nepali language.
You cross the Sinja Khola after breakfast and walk along the banks of Dhobi Khola. En route, you can see terraced farmlands, pine forests and rustic villages. After crossing bridges, you reach Chala Chaur, grazing land for herds. After resting you then take on a steep climb to reach Jaljala. The entire trek on this day follows the Syaule River.
Today is the last day of trekking. You have your breakfast and walk through pine forest that leads you to a meadow and then a ridge. En route, you can see beautiful sceneries of the hilly landscape and trek along the Jugad River. Once you reach Jumla, you have lunch and after that, you can explore the market or the town.
You board the first flight to Nepalgunj from Jumla. En route, you soak into the spectacular view of Jumla region for the last time. After arriving on Nepalgunj, you then board the flight back to Kathmandu after having your lunch. In Kathmandu, you can visit the wellness centers in the city to relieve yourself from the pain and strain of the trek.
This day is separated for you to enjoy the Kathmandu city. You can explore ancient landmarks like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. All of these are the UNESCO world heritage sites and are a prominent part of the history of the Kathmandu Valley. You can also opt to relax at a café or do some souvenir shopping.
